Matthew has practised law for over 25 years, bringing his vast legal expertise and dedication to the team. In 2023, he joined Whitelaw McDonald as Principal Director.

Matthew has represented thousands of injured clients, in areas such as motor accidents, workers compensation, public liability, medical negligence and total and permanent disability claims. Having represented thousands of clients and taken many cases to judgment he has the experience and skills to know how best to prepare a case and how to take it to a successful conclusion with the best outcome possible for his clients.

Career highlights include representing a client who sustained a severe injury in a shopping centre, fighting and winning the case in the High Court of Australia. Won in 2012, this case continues to be used as a precedent for public liability cases today. In 2014, Matthew again took his passion to the High Court to challenge significant legislative change to the workers compensation system, fighting for the worker against the NSW State Government.

If cases result in litigation, navigating the court system and moving through the litigation process can be very complex, which is why Matthew prides himself on guiding clients through that process as comfortably as possible and with clear, simple explanations at every step.

Matthew always has believed and continues to believe that the rights of those injured should be protected and enforced. His dedication and commitment to the best outcome for his clients is what drives him to take his clients cases as far as necessary to achieve the best results for his clients.

Matthew has a firm view that the national sport of the country is cricket.
